Dreams and Change: How Our Dreams Evolve with Time

We grow, and our dreams grow or shrink with us. As we age, we lose a part of our dreams, a part of our ambitions, and a part of the expectations we once held. Life changes, and reality takes over; the things we once held onto so tightly become irrelevant, losing their flavor and meaning.

Every year in a person’s life seems to consume a part of them. Perhaps many of us remember our teenage years, that time when our dreams were limitless. I used to dream a lot and often criticized my father – may he rest in peace – for the things he could have done but didn’t. I would ask, “Why does he drive this car when he could buy a better one? Why does he wear those clothes when he could afford designer brands? Why isn’t his watch a Rolex when he could easily buy one?”

Now, I’ve started to understand. The question wasn’t why he didn’t do all these things, but how life placed certain limits on him, reshaping his priorities. Over time, your dreams start to blend with the expectations and needs of those close to you. You start to “do the math,” and this is precisely where you begin to lose parts of your dreams.

But the real beauty lies in keeping hold of what remains of those dreams. From time to time, it’s important to forget reality for a while and revisit your old dreams. Memories, unlike dreams, grow with age, and in many cases, they can bring you the same joy and excitement.

Dreams are the fuel of life, even if they change over time. Change is part of growing up, but don’t let the burdens and responsibilities extinguish your passion. Always remember that both dreams and memories can rekindle your sense of vitality and ambition, even if their shapes change with time.
